The Raumer lower off Europe 10mm is a special product. This is because it is a 10mm lanyard with an integrated wire catch. The product is intended as a top rope lower off on the one hand. And on the other hand as an abseil point. It must always be attached in pairs. In addition, the two deflection points must be attached diagonally offset to each other. This means that only the upper lower off is ever loaded.
Observe the following safety instructions! There is a risk of falling when climbing over the Europe. Therefore, you may only attach the lower off if it is not possible to climb over it.
The Europe is made of AISI 316L steel (A4 steel). It can therefore be used anywhere in the Alps. It is also best mounted with 10mm A4 steel expansion bolt to prevent galvanic corrosion. Like all Raumer products, this strap is simply passivated. This means that the protective outer layer has been further strengthened by an acid bath.

Mounting Raumer lower off Europe 10mm
You must always attach this lower off in pairs. They must always be slightly offset from each other. Observe the correct spacing of at least 3 x the setting depth of the hooks. Don’t know what we mean? Then please read our article“What do expansion bolt hold?”.
Be particularly careful where you use the lower off. Because there is a risk of falling when overclimbing! This risk is extremely low on abseil slopes. Top rope stations should not be easy to climb over under any circumstances. It is therefore essential to place them far enough above head height in the bare sections!
Avoid galvanic corrosion
The Raumer lower off Europe 10mm may only be mounted on A4 steel expansion bolt. Zinc plated expansion bolt lead to galvanic corrosion of the base metal. Therefore, ensure the correct steel quality when fitting.

Not suitable for bolting near the sea!
The Raumer lower off Europe 10mm is not suitable for bolting near the sea. The AISI 316L steel does not meet the required corrosion class. In order to withstand the extreme chemical conditions in the medium to long term, products made of duplex steel are required as a minimum.
Perfect for bolting near the sea:
- glue in bolt made of titanium
- glue in bolt made of HCR steel
- injection mortar for use near the sea
