As THE expert, we naturally also offer the right bolting accessories. Because only the right drilling material guarantees quick work and safe installation of climbing routes.

Below we give you an informative overview of drilling equipment and what we think it should include.
PPE – the most important bolting accessory
PPE, i.e. “personal protective gear”, is simply a must when bolting. We recommend it:

Helmet: No bolting without a helmet! What is perfectly clear on closer inspection is unfortunately not always true in practice.
descenderIt should firstly be self-blocking and secondly, if possible, also have a panic function . A “must have” for drilling material!
jumarIndispensable for a safe ascent and descent on the fixed rope .
Rope protection: 1-2 rope protection tubes should always be included!
Redundant safety rope: We clearly recommend the IRATA standard! This means a second safety rope (unloaded static rope), to which you are permanently connected with a running rope clamp or fall arrester.
Safety goggles: Protect your eyes! Both when drilling and hammering, tiny pieces of rock fly through the air.
Respiratory protection: Protect your lungs from harmful dust. Granite dust (quartz particles) in particular is a huge burden on your lungs.
Hearing protection: Protects against the loud noise of the drill. And also against dust that can penetrate deep into the ear.
Gloves: Firstly, work gloves protect against painful abrasions. Secondly, they prevent the adhesion of injection mortar. Thirdly, they also prevent blisters from drilling, hammering and jumars.

Haulbags & material bags
Depending on how much you drill in, it pays to buy a Haulbag or material bags. Where to put the crowbar? Stow the 2 spare batteries in a suitable place? Take the 50 bolts and lugs and 5 climbing anchors into the wall?

We recommend a suitable set-up. Firstly, consisting of 1 medium-sized haul bag (40-50 liters). Secondly, a robust gear bag such as the Beal Tool Bucket or the Fixe bolting bag. And thirdly, an approx. 20 liter Big Wall packsack from Metolius. So you are well equipped for all purposes!
Rock brushes: Not all brushes are the same!
Who doesn’t know this? On the one hand, moss at the entrance and sandy

Ledge somewhere in the middle. And on the other hand, stubborn lichen at the exit.

This makes it difficult with a standard wire brush! That’s why we want to make you aware that there are several brush shapes. This means that they all have a slightly different purpose.

e.g. a coarse multi-row steel wire brush for moss cushions. In addition, a large brass brush with a handle for stained tiles. Or a classic wire brush for all-round cleaning. Surface sand and leaves, on the other hand, can be swept away perfectly with an Elaston hand brush, for example. As you can see, a perfect bolting gear simply cannot do without 2-3 brushes!

You can find all our special tips in the “Rock brushes – handle brushes” section!
Wrench
No drilling kit should be without one. We recommend a so-called “offset” wrench. This means that it has a “bend” at each end. This allows you to turn the wrench through 360°. You don’t always need to reposition it and thus avoid the annoying “small-turning” of the screw.
Rock hammer
Belongs to the drilling material like the beer after the red dot ascent! We recommend carrying two hammers in your bolting gear. On the one hand, a light hammer for setting up climbing routes with expansion bolt. And on the other hand a heavy hammer for setting up climbing routes with glass mortar cartridges.
Adjustable Daisy Chain & Cliffs
One of the most important parts of the bolting accessories is the “adjustable daisy chain”. On the one hand, it allows you to attach to belay points quickly and at will. And secondly, you can position your cliffs as you wish. This allows you to build up the necessary “counter-pressure” when drilling to save energy.

For the cliffs, we recommend a selection of three different cliffs. They are often also referred to as “hooks”. Pay attention to the different radii of the points and shapes. This will ensure that you can hook into the most common rock features.
