The Kong Slyde positioning aid is a practical multifunctional plate. It is primarily used as a practical positioning sling. On the one hand for alpine activities. And on the other hand at work at heights. However, it can also be used as a shock absorber.
This device is used in combination with a 9-10mm climbing rope. This is because the desired clamping effect is only achieved with these diameters.
This allows you to position yourself ideally at a belay station or resting point.

Kong Slyde positioning aid – Product video
The use of the product is described in detail below.
Areas of application
As can be seen very clearly in the video. The Kong Slyde positioning aid is a great option for a belay station sling or latching sling. This is because you can quickly adjust the distance with a short release.
This is what makes such a combination so practical. It can also be used as a lanyard via ferrata, for example.
To summarize, the Slyde is recommended as:
- Latching sling for via ferrata
- lanyard
- Positioning aid for work at heights
- as “Daisy Chain” during techno climbing
Kong Slyde positioning aid – also drop shock absorber
This product is also a fall shock absorber. This is because under a greater dynamic load, the rope slips through the eyelets and slows down the fall energy.
This means that its positioning aid can be converted into a shock absorber if necessary. For example, for tricky fixed points in alpine areas. Or as planned on a big wall.
However, we do not recommend systematic use as a shock absorber. The Kong Kisa via ferrata brake, for example, is much better for this purpose.
Practice tip
The Slyde is particularly good for alpine climbing. This is because it not only serves as a self-belay chute. It can be immediately converted into a “daisy chain” for technical climbs. In other words, it is extremely useful for both lead and second climbing.
