Our 6mm screw chain link is used for two purposes.
On the one hand for the fixed suspension of climbing equipment. Such as step slings in a ascender.
And for one thing, it is an option for alpine abseiling points. Thanks to the working load limit of 650 kg. In other words, if you need a “light” option for an alpine abseil point, this is the right choice.
Properties Screw chain link 6mm
- Material: AISI 304 stainless steel

Areas of application Screw chain link 6mm
The product is very popular in many areas, such as:
- Fixed attachment of a stepladder to the ascender
- Attach the haulbag to a swivel
- Attach the material bag to the belt
- as an alpine abseiling point (caution, does not comply with any EN standard!)
Watch out for galvanic corrosion!
If you install a fixed 6 mm screw chain link, you must pay attention to galvanic corrosion! This means that you must not hang this stainless steel product in a zinc plated steel fixed point. This will lead to corrosion of the fixed point over time.
Please always combine zinc-plated components with other zinc-plated components such as bolt hanger combine. If the fixed point is made of zinc plated steel, you must use a link with the same steel quality. This is the only way to ensure long-term durability. I.e. over many years.

Problematic DIY store screw links
Unfortunately, non-standardized products from the DIY market keep turning up at abseiling points. Just like the 6mm screw chain link. Caution! These can be life-threatening. The breaking loads are often only a few hundred kilos. Consequently, these links do not meet any standards.
Only use standardized products. They are clearly recognizable by the markings on the side. Only standardized material should be used in the above-mentioned areas. This means that this screw chain link is also not standardized and can therefore only be used as an accessory.
screw link Note types!
There are many different models of quick links. The oval shape of this 6 mm screw chain link is the classic one. It is mainly used for vertical power transmission of narrow ropes or steel components. This is because the inner radius is only 6 mm. For example, from a step sling to a ascender. Or from a haulbag to a swivel.
Depending on the intended use, these shapes may also be more suitable:
- D-shaped: for attaching several securing points as with the work at heights
- Triangular: to transfer loads from a small attachment point to a slackline, for example
- rectangular: for lifting work such as connecting sling to sling
- pear-shaped: on the one hand where large screw openings are required or wide components are to be suspended on the other hand
- oval: classic design for all vertical force transmissions
Practical tip like the screw chain link 6mm
Anyone who uses this quick link regularly should maintain it. Yes, exactly! W A R T E N! This can be the case with work at heights, for example. Here you have to hang the link in and out of the harness or rigging plate again and again. This means you are well advised to lubricate it with a climbing equipment care oil. This means that the screw lock can still be operated easily!
