10mm Austrialpin bolt hanger made from AISI 316L steel
This 10mm Austrialpin bolt hanger is very light. It weighs just 42 grams. The material of the lug is high-quality AISI 316L steel (low-carbon version of AISI 316 / A4 steel). This makes this 10 mm stainless steel bolt hanger suitable for all kinds of drilling projects in the Alps. For example, it is suitable for climbing area construction or climbing area rebolting. We also recommend it for climbing routes with a normal frequency or where there is not much falling.
Caution on climbing routes with a very high frequency or where there is a lot of falling. Here we recommend 12mm bolt hanger with at least 4mm thickness. These are much more stable and do not bend so easily.
Matching expansion bolt
The suitable expansion bolt for the 10mm Austrialpin bolt hanger are the 10mm Fischer expansion bolt FBN II 10/10 A4 and 10mm Fischer expansion bolt FBN II 10/5 K A4.
The combination with zinc plated expansion bolt must be avoided at all costs! This creates galvanic corrosion. If you haven’t heard of this yet, read our editorial“Galvanic corrosion at expansion bolt” to expand your knowledge.
Not suitable for bolting near the sea!
The 10mm Austrialpin bolt hanger is not suitable for bolting near the sea. The AISI 316L steel does not meet the required corrosion class. In order to withstand the extreme chemical conditions in the medium to long term, products made of duplex steel are required as a minimum.
Perfect for bolting near the sea:
- glue in bolt made of titanium
- glue in bolt made of HCR steel
- injection mortar for use near the sea
