Our glue in bolt with ring is a classic abseil point. This is because the 10 mm thick composite hook with ring can be perfectly installed at deflection points or on abseil slopes.
The hook is made of AISI 316L stainless steel. The ring is also 10 mm thick and has an internal diameter of 30 mm. The ring lies flat on the rock. What makes this glue in bolt with ring particularly special is its “Longlife” passivation. This means that two acid baths provide extra thick and long-lasting corrosion protection.
This model is available in three lengths. The first is 80mm for alpine lines or granite. This is all about saving weight.
Secondly in 100mm for limestone. And thirdly in 120mm for soft rock or rock that is slightly friable on the surface.
We recommend mounting them in pairs diagonally above each other to create the desired redundancy. The ideal distance is approx. 30 cm above each other or 5 cm next to each other.

Classic abseiling hook – Bühler hook with ring
Our glue in bolt with ring is a real classic. You can find this composite piton everywhere in the Alps on abseil slopes and abseil points. We recommend installing them in pairs to create redundancy.

Simply glue the two hooks approx. 30 cm above each other and offset by approx. 5 – 10 cm. This means that only the upper ring is loaded, the lower ring is only used for redundancy!
Do you need instructions? Then read our article “Setting upglue in bolt ” or“Setting up an abseiling point” carefully!
With the 10mm thick ring, this abseiling point should then be able to be used for many decades. Firstly, the ring is constantly turning. In other words, it is always worn at a different point. And secondly, only unloaded ropes should be pulled off it. Consequently, the abrasion is minimal.
The 30 mm inner radius provides enough space for one rope and two carabiners.
glue in bolt with ring for different stones
This hook with ring is available from us in four dimensions. This is because different types of rock require different shank lengths and thicknesses.
The 10 x 80mm and 10 x 100mm variants are intended for hard rock such as granite or gneiss. For limestone, we recommend either the 10 x 100mm or, even better, the 10 x 120mm dimension.
And finally, we offer the 12 x 150 mm variant for soft rock such as sandstone.
Double passivated!
The glue in bolt with ring is double passivated. As a result, its anti-oxidation layer is particularly thick!
This means an extremely long service life and particularly good protection against corrosion. Other manufacturers usually charge a considerable surcharge for this treatment (double acid bath). We offer this treatment, also known as the “marine line”, free of charge!
To avoid destroying the protective layer, we recommend gluing the Bühler hook with ring in place using injection mortar or by hand. We do not recommend gluing in with a glass mortar cartridge for the above-mentioned reason.
