Black Diamond C4’s, C3’s, Z4

Black Diamond is one of our core brands. And for good reason! The US-based brand has been one of the top brands in the mountain sports and outdoor sector for over 40 years.

In our store, we naturally focus on climbing equipment. And here again on the hardware sector. True to our great strength and motto: “Everything made of metal for climbing!”

And there’s no getting around this top brand. Whether it’s the mega classic Camalots or the innovative Z4 Cams. The list goes on and on. Countless products are part of the basic equipment of many climbers and alpinists.
Founded by climbing legend Yvonne Choinard
Today’s Black Diamond company has its origins in the 1950s. It was at this time that climbing legend Yvonne Choinard began manufacturing her own piton by hand.

As one of the biggest big wall pioneers, he knew exactly what was important. In the beginning, he sold his “pegs” directly from the trunk of his car at the Camp 4 parking lot.

The increasing demand for his climbing equipment eventually led to the founding of “Chouinard Equipment Ltd.” in Ventura, California.

Unfortunately, his company had to file for bankruptcy in 1989. It was then sold to a group of former employees and investors.

The Black Diamond Equipment brand is born
The new company was finally founded on December 1, 1989. It was given its current name. The company was also relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1991.

In 1996, the company founded its European branch in Switzerland.

2006 another one in China with an attached factory. On the one hand for hardware, such as nuts, carabiners and ice climbing axes. And secondly for soft goods such as climbing backpacks, climbing harnesses and slings.

The company was then sold to the CLARUS investor group in 2010.

In 2016, the European headquarters then moved to our home town of Innsbruck. Another reason why climbing in Innsbruck is so attractive. Because many employees from all over Europe enrich our climbing community here.

And we have been friends with the BD team ever since.

Mega classic Camalot
One of BD’s best-known products is the Camalot. The first generation was launched back in 1987. The world’s first friends with two axles revolutionized trad climbing. This was because the opening widths were significantly extended. Since then, this model has been continuously perfected. The 10th generation is now on the market!

Several other friends models were also developed on this basis.

You can currently get the Camalot C4, the Camalot Ultralight, the Camalot Z4’s and the Z4’s offset.

Today, four models are available from friends. They are all based in one form or another on the original Camalot model.
Passive protection
The nuts from Black Diamond are another classic in our range. The largest of these are the Wired Hexentrics. Then there are three sets. Firstly, the Offset Stoppers for “flattened” placements. Secondly, the smaller Classic stopper set with seven sizes. And thirdly, the Stopper Set Pro with 13 sizes.

You can choose from five different models.
Belay devices – Descenders
The ATC series from BD covers the entire range of sport and alpine climbing. There are a total of four models to choose from.

The simple – manual – Tuber ATC for single ropes. Then the XP Tuber for double ropes.

And finally, the ATC Guide (for slightly thicker half ropes) and Apine Guide (for very thin half ropes) models, which are self-locking when descending.

You can choose from five models, from sport climbing to alpine climbing or single, thin and thick half ropes.
Black Diamond carabiner
The US brand’s carabiner models have become an integral part of the market.

Firstly, the wire snappers. Whether the ultra-light MiniWire, the more solid LiteWire or the large Hotwire models. They can be found everywhere.

The Lite Wire rack Packs and Mini Wire rack Packs are THE standard for many cams.

The current range of snapgate carabiners leaves nothing to be desired.

The HotForge is the best top model from BD when it comes to keylock snappers. The Oval Keylock is a “must have” for all techno climbers and big wall rats.

The screwgate carabiner range is clearly divided according to size and function.

The smallest is the Hotforge Screwgate. This is followed by the universal LiteForge Screwgate. The HMS-compatible models are the larger RockLock. And the smaller Vapor Lock.

You will find one of the seven screwgate carabiner models for every purpose.
Express
The exes from Black Diamond are surprisingly inexpensive. That’s why we have some of the models in our range.

They complete our range very well.

On the one hand, they often appeal functionally to all-round climbers. This is because they have a good overall length (approx. 30 cm). And secondly, they are very attractively designed. So the eye obviously climbs with you!

Here you will find the Hotwire Quickdraw, the LiteWire Quickdraw and the HotForge Hybrid Draw.

The five Express models offer the right functions for all applications. Light, robust, long, the choice is yours!
Black Diamond piton
The company’s history can be seen in the product category piton. On the one hand, the range is very large. And on the other hand, it is based on the use on Big Walls in Yosemite.

So the legacy of Yvonne Chouinard echoes here. Fortunately for our customers.

Because they can draw on the full range of our products. Whether Lost Arrow, Pecker Angles, Knifeblades, Bugaboos or Rurp.

We have the right normal hook for your adventures!

The company history resonates here. Because the origins of the brand began with the piton…
Ice climbing gear
We also offer the right gear from the US brand in winter. As in other areas, there is a coherent range of ice climbing axes, crampon and ice screws.

The Fuel and Reactor Ice Tools form the basis. Then come the Turbo Ice Screws and Express Ice Screws. The Ultralight Ice Screws round off this range perfectly.

At crampon we offer the Stinger and Sabretooth in stainless steel.

Attention sharp! The ice climbing gear with the two top ice climbing axes Fuel and Reactor.
BD Haulbags
The haul bags from Black Diamond were revised in 2024. Now the material is finally less temperature-dependent. This means it stays soft even when it’s cold.

This ensures a longer service life when used in winter or on high mountains.

With Wall Hauler 40, Wall Hauler 70 and Wall Hauler 140, the Americans cover all requirements well.

Whether Multi Pitch, 2 Day Wall or long Techno Big Wall. With 40, 70 and 140 liters you have a good choice.
Dynex webbing slings
The Black Diamond webbing slings are selling very well. The Dynex material is a variety of “Dyneema”. The straps have a color code so that you can immediately recognize the length.

All lengths are available from Dynex Runners. 10mm thin, light and color-coded. Just as it should be!

Five lengths are available (30cm, 60cm, 120cm, 180cm, 240cm). So there is something suitable for every rack.
