Raumer expansion bolt 10x66mm AISI 316L

The Raumer expansion bolt 10x66mm is made of AISI 316L steel. It is a expansion bolt from Raumer Climbing especially for speleology and alpine climbing routes in hard rock.

Firstly, its length is only 66mm. Secondly, it has special expansion links. This allows “gripping” or “donning” in many different types of rock. Note: expansion bolt do not hold well in very soft rocks such as sandstone. We therefore recommend working with glue in bolt in this type of stone!

For two expansion bolt securing points next to each other, observe the minimum distance (tear-out cone!). With this expansion bolt it is 20cm! This means 3 x the setting depth.

Use the right drill bits

Especially with very thin bolts such as the Raumer expansion bolt 10x66mm, choosing the right SDS drill bit is crucial. We clearly recommend products with a PGM test mark. Cheap drill bits do not guarantee the cutting corner dimension. This can lead to problems when hammering in the bolts. Or the opposite may happen. The drilling holes “wear out”. The expansion bolt can then start to move or the lugs can become loose. A good choice is, for example, the Fischer Quattric SDS drill bit.
