The 10mm bolt hanger zinc plated is a 4mm thick hanger from Raumer Climbing. It is intended for installation with zinc plated 10mm expansion bolt galvanized. It is also recommended for indoor use only (UIAA corrosion class 3)
The neatly finished lug is made of ferritic steel, which has been properly zinc plated. If you are more interested in this topic, read our technical articles in our bolting blog.

UIAA corrosion class 3
The 10mm bolt hanger zinc plated has UIAA corrosion class 3, i.e. “low corrosion resitance”. Or to put it better. Of all the steel grades available, this lug has the lowest quality. It should only be used indoors.
However, practice shows that zinc plated materials are also used outdoors for understandable price reasons.
Our position is clear. For sustainability reasons, only stainless steel should be used outdoors. Please think twice about whether zinc plated materials make sense for your project.
This is because the service life of zinc plated hardware is significantly shorter. This means more hammered-in bolts that will eventually spoil the appearance of the rock.
10mm bolt hanger zinc plated & galvanic corrosion
Please pay attention to a few basic things when installing this tab.
Firstly, do not use stainless steel bolts, as this causes galvanic corrosion. Consequently, you also need to be careful with the nuts and washers. These should also only be zinc plated.
We also recommend dry and cool storage. Therefore, avoid “throwing them together” with parts made of other steels. And also avoid damp places.
