The Lost Arrow are universal piton made of high-carbon steel from Black Diamond. They are available in eight dimensions and are designed for hard rock. Such as granite or gneiss.
The different sizes enable an enormous range of placements. From small, shallow cracks to larger and wider slots, these hooks can be used.
The eyelets on the Lost Arrow are cleanly chamfered and very smooth. This means that the carabiners do not cut into them and you can also tie off the hooks very well with webbing slings.
What distinguishes this hook model is also its durability. This is because these hooks are built to be used and reused very often.
Our conclusion. If you do a lot of climbing in primary rock or alpine terrain, you should buy a fine selection. For big walls in granite, however, these hooks are irreplaceable!

Heavy hammer recommended
To be able to properly sink or nail out the Lost Arrow hooks from Black Diamond, you need a “solid” hammer. In other words, a model with a little more weight.
Because a small, lightweight rock hammer is no good here. Big wall hammers such as the Edelrid Hudson, the BD Yosemite Hammer or the Kong Eagle are much better suited to this type of hook.
