One is the “Reglette” hook. This has a small radius and is intended for small crimps. Because “Reglette” in French means “crimp” in German. Furthermore, this Cliff holds perfectly in 10mm drilling holes.

On the other hand, there is the Petzl Cliff “Goutte d’eau”. This means something like “water drop hole”. This refers to the legendary, sharp drip holes in the Verdon. This hook is therefore perfect for the drip holes, as well as all larger holes such as in the Frankenjura or conglomerate.

Bolting climbers use the Cliffs either on lead or when rappelling. They are generally always used with an “adjustable daisy”, into which you ultimately hang in the small sling of the Cliff. This allows you to quickly set the ideal distance to Cliff.

Petzl Reglette

This small Petzl Cliff is ideal for small crimps and mini ledges. It is also ideal for small artificial ledges. I.e. for drilled holes as well as dents created with a chisel.

What distinguishes the Petzl Reglette? For one thing, it has a small radius. This means that it pushes the Cliff straight down and directs the body weight directly to the tip.

And secondly, the small, permanently sewn Dyneema webbing sling.

Petzl Goutte d’eau

This medium-sized Petzl Cliff is designed for holes and small, undercut sheds. Consequently, the “Goutte d’eau” also has a larger radius. This means it can be “threaded” perfectly.

This hook is again equipped with a 1mm Dyneema webbing sling.

Petzl Cliff – Practical tip

We highly recommend using an “adjustable daisy” with these two hooks. This allows you to adjust your distance to Cliff extremely quickly.

This means that the Daisy can be “extended” or “retracted” in a matter of seconds using the buckle on the Daisy.

This makes you super fast on big walls as well as when bolting. Your two Petzl hooks will really come into their own!
