The Petzl Coeur Bolt Steel is a composite product. It consists of a bolt hanger and a galvanized steel expansion bolt zinc plated steel. This offer here is a pack of 20 pieces!
Two combinations are available.
On the one hand a 10mm lug with corresponding bolt. And on the other hand a 12mm lug with the same bolt diameter. The two components are perfectly matched to each other.
The Petzl Coeur Bolt Steel can be used for a wide range of applications. The 12mm version also has an EN 959 standard. This means that these products can be used for both work at heights and climbing.
Due to the steel quality, use is only recommended indoors. If you use zinc plated expansion bolt outdoors, you can expect a significantly shorter service life. We therefore recommend stainless steel products in this case.
In short. If you are looking for a high-quality but inexpensive alternative to zinc-plated fixed points. Voila, here they are!

Caution during storage and installation
Please always observe the principle of galvanic corrosion. This means that you must not arbitrarily replace components in this zinc-plated steel product. For example, replace one of the zinc-plated nuts with a stainless steel nut.
Are you not familiar with the term “galvanic corrosion”? Don’t know exactly what we’re talking about? Then read our article“Galvanic corrosion at expansion bolt“.
In practice, this means Store your Petzl Coeur Bolt Steel in a separate box. If a component such as a nut or washer falls off. Replace with zinc plated materials. Also ensure dry storage.
Petzl Coeur Bolt Steel – Torques
The expansion bolt must be tightened according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Namely with 30 Nm for the 10mm bolt. And with 50 Nm for the 12 mm bolt.
You will need a torque wrench to do this precisely. Otherwise you have to work with this rule of thumb. If you can hear and feel the “click-clack” of the expansion rings, stop tightening immediately!
High-quality workmanship
Like all Petzl products, the Petzl Coeur Bolt Steel is perfectly crafted.
Firstly, the lugs are super polished or chamfered. Secondly, the lugs are 4 mm thick. This means that they do not bend even after many hard falls. Thirdly, there is space for two carabiners in the eyelet. And fourthly, the tabs have three anti-slip pins on the back.
At expansion bolt, the perfect coordination of cone and expansion rings ensures the best hold. The bolts are guaranteed to “donn” in all solid rock types such as granite, gneiss, limestone and slate. Please note. This requires clean drilling hole cleaning with a perforated brush and blow out pumb is required!
