The Coeur Stainless is a Petzl bolt hanger made of stainless steel. It is available with two different drill holes. One with 10mm and the other with 12mm. Otherwise, the dimensions are completely identical.
This bolt hanger has some high-quality features. Firstly, the high steel quality. It is made from AISI 316L stainless steel. Consequently, it may only be installed with stainless steel expansion bolt.
Secondly, the Coeur Stainless strap is 4 mm thick. This means that it does not bend even after many “hard” falls. Thirdly, everything is finely burred or polished. In combination with the thickness, this results in little abrasion of the carabiners.
And fourthly, this Petzl bolt hanger has three anti-slip pins on the back. This stops unwanted turning when the rock is nice and flat.
In short. Another high-quality product from Petzl for standard-compliant equipment for climbing area construction or climbing area rebolting.

EN 959 standard
This standard is an important feature for all climbers. This is because it means that this Petzl bolt hanger corresponds to the legal “dimensional figure”, namely a stainless steel hanger with the corresponding standard.
Compliance with this standard is part of the duty of care for climbing garden operators in Austria. So you are clearly on the “safe side” here.
The standard exists for both the 10mm and the 12mm version of this Petzl bolt hanger!
Coeur Stainless – do not use zinc plated expansion bolt!
These bolt hanger are made of AISI 316L stainless steel. Consequently, they must not be installed with zinc plated expansion bolt. This produces galvanic corrosion.
Are you not familiar with this? Then read our article“Galvanic corrosion at expansion bolt“.
We recommend the matching Petzl Bolt Stainless. These two products are perfectly matched. This means that both the 10mm and 12mm versions of the bolt and Petzl bolt hanger are an ideal match.
bolting.eu Practice Tip
To prevent this from happening in the first place, we recommend “clean” storage of the Coeur Stainless lugs.
On the one hand, this means dry and in a box. And secondly, it also means “single-variety”. Or better formulated. Only store one type of lug per box and do not add any other material. Because zinc plated bolts, washers or nuts are quickly added. As a result, you no longer know the components and the Petzl bolt hanger apart. This is often where galvanic corrosion starts 🙁
