The leather gloves from Petzl are THE standard for climbers and work at heights. The Cordex and the Plus version of the same name are perfect for rappelling and belaying with static ropes and climbing ropes.
This is why they can be found in many industrial climbing gear and climbing backpacks.
There are two variants to choose from.
Firstly, the lighter standard model. This has a soft, breathable nylon stretch fabric on the entire back of the hand.
Secondly, the more robust Plus model. This has a significantly reinforced palm and fingertips to prevent burns. Furthermore, almost the back of the hand is covered with leather. Only the areas for the finger joints are covered with stretch nylon.

Lightweight model Petzl Cordex
This glove is the lighter and slightly softer version. Although the palm has a double layer of leather, it is not additionally reinforced.
There is also stretch nylon over the entire back of the hand. On the one hand, this provides plenty of ventilation. And on the other hand for an overall “softer” feel.
The resulting weight saving is approx. 30 grams in each size.
Do you focus on working with your hands? Do you rappel relatively little at the same time? Like mountain guides or industrial climbers, for example.
Then the Standard model is the right one for you!
Heavy Duty model Cordex Plus
Petzl has made this glove for “heavy use” applications. The palms and fingertips are additionally reinforced for this purpose.
The back of the hand is also completely covered with leather. Only the finger joints have a stretch nylon insert.
This variant is therefore ideal for anyone who does a lot of belaying or rappelling. For example, course instructors or industrial climbers on control tasks.
This model is on average 30 grams heavier than the standard version.

Cleaning instructions
The Cordex gloves are made of goatskin. This means that they will absorb dirt and grease over time.
If the surface gets too dirty, you can wash the leather.
Please note. Use lukewarm water and normal soap. Never wash in the washing machine or with washing powder!
Repairs
You should never repair your Petzl gloves yourself. For example, on seams that have come undone or leather parts that have come loose.
You can send them directly to us as a dealer or to Petzl. The models will be professionally repaired there.
Drying gloves
Have your Cordex models gotten wet? Then don’t worry. If you dry them properly, they will be fully operational again.
Simply hang them up in a shady place. This allows the moisture to escape slowly. This preserves the natural structure of the leather better.
